After recovering from a deadly illness, Charles Beaumont makes a promise to himself to follow his dreams and become the Tolstoy of speculative fiction. He drops out of high school at sixteen and moves to Los Angeles, where he falls in with a group of aspiring science fiction novelists including Ray Bradbury and Richard Matheson – and starts a family with the love of his life. Following years of financial struggle, Charles finally finds his break as one of the head writers for The Twilight Zone, a position that brings him wealth and fame.
